Renewal of cooperation between investment agencies of Bulgaria and Poland

On May 17, 2016 in Poland, Warsaw, was held initiated by InvestBulgaria Agency /IBA/ meeting with colleagues from the Polish information and Foreign investment agency. The meeting was attended by Ms. Anna Radovska, Secretary General of IBA and Ms. Lyubka Alexandrova, expert in Department "Marketing and Investment Services". By the Polish Agency attended Mr. Slawomir Kruzhmanovski, vice president, Mr. Marcin Boron and Mr. Lucas Lesnievski, experts Economic Analysis of the Department of Economic Development.

During the fruitful meeting they discussed opportunities for enhanced mutual cooperation between the two agencies and were outlined concrete actions for the future. Joint organization of international events and conferences, cooperation and exchange of information in the IT sector, startup and outsourcing are the future areas where agencies will cooperate for investment on both sides.

A major focus was the upcoming signing of a memorandum of cooperation, aimed at renewing the signed Agreement on Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments, signed in April 1994, as well as strengthen ties and exchange of information on incentives that apply to attract investors.

In 2015, the Bulgarian export to Poland amounted to 529.501 mln. euro, which is 13th place, an increase of 16.68%, a share of 2.3% of total exports. Import is 822.585 mln. euro, 12th place and an increase of 16.11%, a share of 3.1% of all imports. According to BNB data for the period 1996-2014, direct Polish investments in Bulgaria amounted to 135 mln. euro, and for 2015 amounted to 16.9 mln. euro.
