CONFERENCE ON TRADE AND INVESTMENT COOPERATION BETWEEN BULGARIA AND SICHUAN, CHINA

The Executive Director of the  InvestBulgaria Agency Mila Nenova, the President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of China in Bulgaria Wang Ming, the President of CCPIT Sichuan Huang Li took part in the conference organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and CCPIT.

Ms. Mila Nenova, Executive Director of the InvestBulgarian Agency, presented the potential of our country as an investment destination, its favorable tax policy and its macroeconomic stability. She noted that the trade turnover between the two countries is growing, but the amount of direct investments from China to Bulgaria can be increased, which will lead to many new projects of Chinese enterprises in Bulgaria. Ms. Nenova reminded that everything that is produced in our country bears the EU label, which means that it can be exported all over the world. Nenova noted that Bulgaria expects to join Schengen by land, which will be an additional facilitation for investors.

The President of BCCI Tsvetan Simeonov confirmed the Chamber’s readiness to assist in the development of bilateral relations with China.

Huang Li, Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade – Sichuan (CCPIT), said that last year the trade turnover between the Chinese province and our country amounted to 590 million USD. Dollars. The conference, organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and CCPIT, was attended by a business delegation from the Chinese province.

She said that the export of Bulgarian agricultural products last year increased, reaching 500 million euros. Dollars. The Chinese province has a highly developed economy, good resource opportunities, good prospects and rapid development. There are 23 diplomatic missions, and in the capital Chengdu there are two international airports, it has a permanent railway connection that reaches the European continent and attracts the attention of investors from all over the world, said Huang Li and expressed confidence that the representatives of the business circles from Bulgaria, participating in today’s forum, would focus their interests on this province, and Chinese companies would strengthen trade and economic cooperation with Bulgarian enterprises.

Wang Ming, charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, pointed out that the global economy is currently unstable and under the influence of many unpredictable factors. At the same time, Wang Ming pointed out that China’s economy has been recovering since last year, with GDP growing by 5.2 percent year-on-year in 2023. Regarding bilateral trade between Bulgaria and China, Wang Ming pointed out that in recent years it has been developing significantly and for seven years its value has been increasing, and in 2023 exports from Bulgaria to China are growing by 23.7 percent, and the trade deficit is decreasing.

The delegation from China, led by Huang Li, Chairman of CCPIT Sichuan, covers companies from the following sectors: mechanical engineering in the field of construction, production of high-tech cleaning robots, equipment of air cleaning rooms, machinery and tools, equipment of underground construction, drilling, transmission parts, etc.
