On 18.10.2023, the second module of the third induction seminar for newly recruited members of the diplomatic corps was held, organized by the Diplomatic Institute (DI).
The seminar was held at the Ministry of Economy and Industry and was opened by Minister Bogdan Bogdanov, together with Yordan Stoichkov, Head of Department at DI.
The module aimed to address topics such as the Bulgarian economy, energy and tourism. At the invitation of the institute, Mila Nenova, Executive Director of the Invest Bulgaria Agency (IBA) and Julian Balchev, Secretary General of IBA, gave a presentation on the Agency’s activities and high value-added investments. They presented to future diplomats the advantages of Bulgaria as an investment destination and the incentives provided by the state to encourage foreign direct investment.
Participants included Lachezar Petkov, Acting Secretary General of the Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency, Slavcho Neykov, President of the Institute for Energy Management and Polina Karastoyanova, Executive Director of the National Tourism Board. A lecture on the development of the Bulgarian economy was given by Prof. Dr. Stefan Petranov, Professor of Economics at Sofia University.
After the module, the newly arrived diplomats had the opportunity to visit the National Archaeological Institute with Museum at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and to get acquainted with the material and spiritual culture of the tribes and peoples who inhabited the present-day Bulgarian lands from the deepest antiquity until the 17th century.
