INVESTBULGARIA AGENCY HELD AN ONLINE FORUM “START AND EXPAND YOUR BUSINESS IN BULGARIA”, AIMED AT THE UKRAINIAN BUSINESS COMMUNITY
On May 30, 2022, InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) held a webinar on “Start and expand your business in Bulgaria.” The event is organized jointly with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and is aimed at the Ukrainian business community. The forum brought together over 50 participants, including representatives of the state, business, NGOs and others.
“We already have a registered interest from Ukrainian companies that aim to move their businesses to Bulgaria. There are both businesses with a presence here, which aim to expand their activities, and companies in the IT business, which intend to open offices in our country and relocate some of their employees. Among those interested are manufacturing companies that want to relocate their production – we have a company for fertilizers, we have a company in the manufacturing sector of packaging, companies related to trade and logistics. IBA is also in contact with municipalities with higher than the average unemployment to offer Ukrainian companies specific jobs with a workforce that can be included. The goal of IBA is to assist Ukrainian companies that are interested in moving their business to Bulgaria or to expand their business in our country “, said Bogdan Bogdanov, Executive director of IBA during the event.
Ms. Karina Angelieva, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth opened the online forum with a welcoming speech to the participants.
During the forum, presentations were presented by InvestBulgaria Agency, the Executive Agency for Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises, the Bulgarian Development Bank, the Employment Agency and Ukrainian companies that have chosen Bulgaria for their business development.
Prior to the event, Bogdan Bogdanov, Executive Director of IBA and Gennady Chizhikov, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a cooperation agreement, and this agreement will become an important mechanism for stimulating and supporting business in Bulgaria and Ukraine and will be the basis for upgrading trade relations, as well to increase bilateral investment. The purpose of this Memorandum is to create a practical framework for the development of closer business relations between the countries and their business organizations, to determine ways to cooperate with a view to expanding investment and trade relations between Bulgaria and Ukraine, and to strengthen cooperation between institutions and capacity building through mutual cooperation.
