Yulian Balchev, Secretary General of the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA), together with experts from the Agency, took part in two official events held at Zagore Industrial Zone – Elenino, Stara Zagora Region.
Among the official guests were Krasimir Yakimov, Deputy Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry; Radostin Tanev, Deputy Mayor of Stara Zagora Municipality; Radoslav Tanev, Executive Director of Zagore Industrial Zone AD; as well as representatives of central and local government and the business community.
During the first ceremony, the newly developed infrastructure of Zagore Industrial Zone – Elenino was officially inaugurated. The infrastructure was completed under the AttractInvestZAGORE project with grant funding of nearly EUR 7.1 million. The new technical infrastructure provides the necessary conditions for attracting and implementing new investment projects within the industrial zone.
Immediately afterwards, a groundbreaking ceremony marked the symbolic start of construction of Bulgaria’s first plant for the production of vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB). The project envisages the construction of a modern manufacturing complex featuring a highly automated production line for the development and production of long-duration electrical energy storage systems. It represents one of the most innovative industrial investments currently being implemented in Bulgaria.
The implementation of these projects is the result of effective cooperation between state institutions, local authorities and the business community, and provides further evidence of the importance of investment project certification as an instrument for promoting investment and accelerating the implementation of strategic projects.
