INVESTBULGARIA AGENCY PRESENTS PROJECT TO POSITION BULGARIA AS A COMPETITIVE INVESTMENT DESTINATION

Today, a public presentation of project BG16RFPR001-1.006-0001, “Establishing Bulgaria as a Competitive Investment Destination through Support for the Activities of the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA),” was held in the conference hall of the InvestBulgaria Agency at Sofia Tech Park. The project is funded under the Competitiveness and Innovation in Enterprises Programme 2021–2027.

The event was attended by representatives of public institutions, bilateral chambers of commerce, partner organisations and the media, who were introduced to the project’s main objectives, activities and expected results.

The project was presented by Angel Ivanov, Acting Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency. In his address, he highlighted the importance of a consistent policy to promote Bulgaria as a competitive and sustainable investment destination, as well as the need for the country to be positioned more actively within the international business community.

“Successfully presenting Bulgaria to international investors is not the responsibility of a single institution. It is the result of the joint efforts of the government, the business community, bilateral chambers of commerce and our international partners,” Ivanov said.

The presentation outlined the project activities aimed at improving the investment environment, expanding the scope and quality of investor services, digitalising investor support processes and increasing Bulgaria’s international visibility.

A particular focus of the project is placed on regions with lower levels of investment activity in Northern Bulgaria. Up-to-date socio-economic profiles and regional analyses will be developed to support the more effective presentation of their competitive advantages and investment potential to prospective investors.

Key activities include the development of an information system to further digitalise and automate investor support processes, as well as the organisation of international investment forums, business meetings and communication initiatives promoting Bulgaria as a destination for high-tech, manufacturing and innovation-driven projects.

The project will also deliver analyses, strategies and practical tools to strengthen Bulgaria’s positioning as a competitive investment destination. This analytical, digital and marketing preparation will provide the foundation for the project’s most practical and strategically important stage: individual meetings with the senior management of selected prospective investors and the presentation of tailored investment proposals.

This direct dialogue with companies demonstrating strong investment potential may lead to the identification and development of major investment projects capable of having a significant impact on Bulgaria’s investment landscape.

The project has a duration of 24 months and a total budget of EUR 3,579,034.37. It is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund.
