MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION BETWEEN THE BULGARIAN INVESTMENT AGENCY AND THE MOLDOVAN INVESTMENT AGENCY

In today’s world of globalization and free trade, cooperation between countries is essential for economic growth and development. In this regard, the  InvestBulgaria Agency and the Investment Agency of Moldova met on March 26 to sign a memorandum of cooperation in the field of investments. The purpose of this memorandum is to create and expand cooperation networks, to promote investment opportunities and projects in both countries and to intensify joint investments in all areas, in accordance with the investment legislation in force in each of the countries.

The Memorandum of Cooperation aims to strengthen the ties and exchanges between the two countries in the field of investment. This is another step forward towards more stable economic relations and development between Bulgaria and Moldova and achieving a better investment environment, which will create favorable conditions for economic growth and development in the region, said Ms. Mila Nenova, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency.

Victor Parlikov, Minister of Energy of Moldova, opened the forum and said that since 2021. Bulgaria is among the 10 most active trading partners of Moldova. The country’s exports to Bulgaria are constantly growing and in 2023 they are 142 million. USD. The two countries have common European goals, both in the field of energy and in other sectors.

He informed that Bulgaria and Moldova have confirmed their intentions to develop the Vertical Gas Corridor initiative. The accession of the gas transmission operator of Moldova to the other countries of the project is key to the success of the initiative and opens up new opportunities for synergy with the European priorities for a secure and reliable supply of natural gas.

The Secretary General of the Agency Julian Balchev presented the opportunities and advantages for investments in Bulgaria at the economic forum, which was held during the second day of the agency’s visit to Chisinau on March 27.

The University of Ruse “Angel Kanchev” will have its own branch in the town of Taraclia. This is also set out in an agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and Moldova.

In this way, for the first time, a division of a Bulgarian higher education institution will be established among the historical Bulgarian community abroad. A significant number of Moldovan citizens of Bulgarian origin from the Taraclia region and ATU Gagauzia will be given immediate access to Bulgarian higher education.

By sharing experience and knowledge, the partners will work together to improve the investment environment in both countries. This includes the application of methodologies that encourage a wide range of investments and ensure the sustainable development of the business environment.

The partners will also share business opportunities and synergies with third parties in the region.
