On June 26, the Ninth Annual Meeting of the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum (BBLF) with the foreign diplomatic corps was held in Sofia under the motto “Bulgaria as an Investment Destination.” The event gathered representatives of more than 30 embassies, over 45 leading companies, as well as high-ranking officials from the executive branch.
Ms. Mila Nenova, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Investment Agency (BAI), took an active part in the event, emphasizing BAI’s role as a key partner in the state’s efforts to attract high-quality and sustainable investments. During the discussion, she highlighted specific mechanisms for supporting investors, as well as strategic sectors in which Bulgaria has strong potential for development — from high technologies and industry to innovation and the green transition.
“Investor support does not end with their attraction. Our goal is to be an active partner in the implementation and sustainable development of every project,”
Ms. Nenova noted during the meeting.
The event was organized in partnership with the British Embassy in Sofia, the diplomatic partner of the meeting. Ambassador Nathanael Copsey emphasized the many reasons for optimism, pointing out that according to Eurostat, Bulgaria has been the fastest-growing economy in the last 10 years, with GDP growth, balanced budgets for years, low unemployment, and contained inflation.
“We call on BBLF and its members to continue their active efforts to improve the business environment, which is a guarantee for prosperity today and in the future,”he added.
During the forum, participants discussed concrete steps to improve the business environment in the country, including Bulgaria’s forthcoming membership in the Eurozone, digitalization of administrative services, and measures to accelerate judicial reform.
Among the official guests were Georgi Georgiev, Minister of Justice; Nikolay Pavlov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Doncho Barbalov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry; the new BBLF Chairman Anton Panayotov; Levon Hampartzoumian; Maxim Behar, and others.
