“REINVESTMENTS ARE THE STRONGEST SIGN OF CONFIDENCE IN BULGARIA,” SAYS ANGEL IVANOV AT THE CLOSING PANEL OF ARES 2026

Angel Ivanov, Acting Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA), participated in the third edition of the AmChams Regional Economic Summit (ARES 2026), held in Sofia. The forum brought together representatives of public institutions, investment promotion agencies, the international business community and chambers of commerce from across the region.

During the closing panel, “Overview of Regional Investment Opportunities,” Mr Ivanov presented Bulgaria’s competitive advantages as an investment destination and highlighted the role of the InvestBulgaria Agency as a trusted institutional partner supporting investors throughout the entire lifecycle of their investment projects.

The discussion also featured representatives of the investment promotion agencies of Moldova, Armenia and Türkiye, and was moderated by Jelena Arsovska, Executive Director of AmCham North Macedonia.

During the panel, Mr Ivanov stressed that the Agency’s commitment to investors extends far beyond administrative procedures and the issuance of certificates and official documents.

“Our work does not end once the paperwork is completed. We are the first institution investors turn to whenever they encounter a challenge, even when the issue falls outside our direct responsibilities. We work closely with all competent authorities to accelerate procedures and find practical solutions. That is what being a true partner to investors means.”

According to Mr Ivanov, the most meaningful indicator of a country’s investment climate is not only its ability to attract new investors, but also the willingness of existing companies to expand their operations.

“For us, reinvestment is the key indicator. When a company chooses to invest again, it is the strongest sign of confidence in the country, its institutions and its business environment.”

Mr Ivanov also identified Bulgaria’s international visibility as one of the country’s key challenges.

“Bulgaria has all the prerequisites to become a preferred investment destination. However, we must continue to actively promote the opportunities the country offers. More investors need to become aware of our competitive advantages and the comprehensive support they can receive here.”

ARES 2026 provided an important platform for the exchange of best practices among national investment promotion agencies and highlighted the key factors for enhancing competitiveness and attracting sustainable investment across the region.

The InvestBulgaria Agency extends its sincere appreciation to AmCham Bulgaria for the invitation, the excellent organisation of the forum and the strong partnership, which continues to contribute to investment promotion and the development of a competitive business environment in Bulgaria and Southeast Europe.
