SUCCESSFUL START OF THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM FOR IMMOVABLE CULTURAL HERITAGE “BRATSIGOVO – THE STONE FLOW OF TIME” 2024

The fourth edition of the International Forum for Immovable Cultural Heritage “Bratsigovo – The Stone Flow of Time” began with a lot of energy and inspiration. Dedicated to the topic “Archaeology and Architecture”, the forum attracted professionals from Bulgaria and abroad, who shared their knowledge and experience in the joint work between architects, archaeologists and restorers.

Thank you for supporting us the “Stone Flow of Time” to grow and find more and more support and like-minded people, said arch. Desislava Dimitrova from the Chamber of Architects in Bulgaria and the main organizer of the event together with the Chamber of Builders in Bulgaria, the Municipality of Bratsigovo, the Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia, Confindustria Bulgaria, the Embassy of Italy in Bulgaria, ITA – Italian Trade Agency, the Municipality of Plovdiv.

It is a great honor for me to be here today as Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency. Our main mission is to present Bulgaria to the world not only as an economic strategic destination, but also as a country with a rich cultural heritage, said Mrs. Nenova during her welcoming speeches to the guests and also shared:

“Bulgaria has a key geographical location and macroeconomic stability, which make it attractive for business. But in addition to economic factors, we have exceptional talents, innovation potential and a good quality of life – from security and culture to wonderful food.

Today, in this beautiful part of Bulgaria, we are here not only to talk about our cultural heritage, but also to promote it. Everyone who comes to our country is pleasantly surprised by the richness and variety we offer. Cultural tourism is not only sustainable, but also creates economic opportunities. Let’s continue to present Bulgaria as a cultural and economic destination on the world stage together.”

The participants were also welcomed by the Mayor of Bratsigovo Municipality Nadezhda Kazakova, the Regional Governor of Pazardzhik Valentina Kaytazova, the Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria Giuseppina Zarra, the Chairman of Confindustria Bulgaria Roberto Santorelli, arch. Andrea Grilleto, director of the Association of Restorers in Italy, as well as the technical directors of the UNESCO sites, Pompeii and the Colosseum, as well as leading architects and archaeologists from Bulgaria and Italy!

The opening was part of the European Heritage Days 2024, which this year focus on cultural exchanges and the ties that bind European societies through the centuries. The program of the forum includes lectures, practical workshops and cultural events that emphasize the importance of cultural heritage for the modern world.

The first evening of the festival ended at the central square in Bratsigovo, where the choir “Tiscali” from the island of Sardinia presented traditional songs and dances from Italy.
