THE INTERACTIVE INVESTMENT MAP OF BULGARIA – THE NEW DIGITAL ENVIRONMENT FOR INVESTORS AND BUSINESSES

The Ministry of Innovation and Growth (MIG) and the  InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) officially presented the Interactive Investment Map of Bulgaria – the first national digital platform of its kind, bringing together key information on industrial zones, technology parks, and investment properties in the country.

The official event took place on October 16, 2025, at the MIG building.

The project was implemented by the BInvestBulgaria Agency with the assistance of the MIG, thanks to Information Services and in partnership with the Employment Agency; the National Statistical Institute; the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre; and the Directorate-General for European Funds for Competitiveness.

A new tool for transparency and development

The interactive map provides investors with centralized access to reliable, up-to-date, and visualized information about available land, infrastructure, and scientific and technological potential in the country.

“This platform is the result of the vision of the IBA and MIR that Bulgaria needs a tool that brings together in one place the information needed by investors—from industrial sites to scientific infrastructure,” said Mila Nenova, Executive Director of the IBA.

“This is a living organism that will continue to develop and be enriched with new data—the more actively the participants in the ecosystem submit information, the more useful it will be for business and regional development.”

Through the platform, investors can compare opportunities, analyze infrastructure, accessibility, and industrial profile of the areas, while representatives of business zones can promote their sites and reach new partners.

Support from institutions

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth Tomislav Donchev pointed out that the initiative is part of the state’s long-term efforts to modernize the investment environment:

“Industrial zones are a key tool for accelerating the investment process. Time is a critical factor for business, and the administration must move at the speed of the corporate sector. This platform is part of the solution—it provides clarity, accessibility, and speed,” Minister Donchev emphasized.

He added that the map will also support the connection between business and the scientific community by promoting the national innovation infrastructure and facilitating access to it.

A bridge between knowledge and capital

According to Prof. Silvia Ilieva, director of the GATE Institute at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” the platform represents a new approach to cooperation between institutions and businesses:

“The interactive investment map is a bridge between knowledge and capital, between idea and implementation. It creates opportunities even for smaller municipalities to showcase their potential – infrastructure, scientific base, industrial sites – and thus retain young people and attract investment.”

Prof. Ilieva emphasized the importance of the active participation of all stakeholders—institutions, industrial zones, universities, and scientific centers—in order to keep the information alive and up to date.

The business perspective

In his speech, Plamen Panchev, founder and CEO of Trakia Economic Zone (TEZ), emphasized that the initiative is timely and necessary to improve dialogue between business and administration:

“The platform comes at just the right time – it will facilitate communication between investors, institutions, and industrial zones. Its success will depend on the activity of all of us – the more complete and up-to-date the information is, the greater the benefit to the economy will be.”

What the platform offers

The interactive investment map covers three main areas:

Industrial zones and parks – information on infrastructure, size, ownership, and accessibility;

Scientific and technological infrastructure – centers of excellence, competence, universities, and research bases;

Investment properties – land and buildings with potential for business development.

Key features include:

an interactive map with filters by region, infrastructure, and type of property;
dynamic profiles that can be updated by zone representatives;
the ability to upload marketing materials, photos, and presentations;
public access and a multilingual interface for international investors.

Vision for the future

The interactive investment map is a strategic tool for promoting investment and regional development, creating a new digital ecosystem for cooperation between institutions, business, and science. It will be developed over time and will continue to unite the efforts of all partners—state, municipal, and private—to present Bulgaria’s economic potential in a clear, transparent, and modern way.
