A working meeting was held at Chirpan Municipality between the management of Invest Bulgaria Agency (IBA) and Deputy Mayor Svetla Doncheva, who has previously served as Director of the Directorate “European Programs and Projects, Spatial and Urban Planning, and Investment Control” (EPPUPIC), along with representatives of the municipal administration.
During the meeting, IBA presented its activities and the investment incentive measures under the Investment Promotion Act, as well as opportunities for active involvement of municipalities in the investment attraction process. Invest Bulgaria Agency views cooperation with municipalities-including smaller local administrations-as a key priority, by providing expert support, consultations, and the sharing of best practices for attracting investments.
The discussion focused on the benefits for local authorities from working jointly with the Agency, the role of municipalities in creating a favorable investment environment, and the importance of partnership in the implementation of future investment initiatives. In this context, attention was drawn to municipalities’ right to certify Class B investment projects, as well as the possibilities for regulating this activity through the application of already adopted ordinances and proven models from other municipalities.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening cooperation between the Invest Bulgaria Agency and Chirpan Municipality with the aim of achieving sustainable economic development in the region. The investment potential of Chirpan Municipality was highlighted, including the availability of free land plots, its exceptionally favorable location-as the only city situated at the intersection of the Trakia and Maritsa motorways-and its favorable climatic conditions, including opportunities for the development of agriculture and related activities.
