BALKAN BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT FORUM IN EDIRNE

The Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkey organized the Balkan Business and Investment Forum, which took place in the period October 31 – November 1, 2024 in Edirne. The event brought together representatives from 11 Balkan countries, including Bulgaria, Greece, North Macedonia, Romania, Albania, Kosovo and Serbia, as well as business leaders from various sectors such as agriculture, construction and tourism.

Ms. Mila Nenova, Executive Director of the  InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA), was among the participants of the forum and presented the incentive measures that Bulgaria applies to attract foreign investments, highlighting successful initiatives to stimulate start-ups. She emphasized the importance of strategic approaches and the efficient use of resources to strengthen economic cooperation between the Balkan countries, emphasizing the key role of investments in building a sustainable and dynamic business ecosystem.

The forum offered a platform not only for the exchange of ideas, but also for the establishment of concrete economic partnerships and long-term business relationships, supporting the efforts to integrate regional markets.

The Minister of Innovation and Growth Assoc. Dr. Rosen Karadimov emphasized that the economic cooperation between the Balkan countries is key to the sustainable growth and stability of the region. “We have a huge potential that we can develop together,” he said. Minister Karadimov participated in the conference at the invitation of the organizers – the Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey, Mehmet Kacer, and the Minister of Trade, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat.

The Deputy Ministers of Innovation and Growth of Bulgaria also took part in the event. Deputy Minister Krasimir Yakimov participated in discussions on Bulgaria’s investment potential and opportunities for partnership with the neighboring Balkan countries. Deputy Minister Prof. Georgi Angelov took part in a panel discussion on the development of startups in the region, outlining the different opportunities for supporting startups in Bulgaria.
