BULGARIAN-LIBYAN ECONOMIC FORUM

On November 13, in the building of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the Bulgarian-Libyan Economic Forum was held, which was opened by the Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. Petko Nikolov. The event, organized by BCCI and supported by the Embassy of Libya in Bulgaria and the Council of Libyan Chambers of Commerce, attracted representatives of the private sector, state institutions and businesses from both countries.

The  InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) was represented by Petar Pavlov, Senior Expert in the Marketing and Investment Services Directorate, who made a presentation on the incentive measures that Bulgaria applies to attract foreign investments and actively participated in the talks about new opportunities and areas of cooperation.

Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, President of BCCI, emphasized the importance of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Libya, highlighting the potential for strengthening the exchange of goods and services. “Our trade and economic ties have a traditionally stable foundation, and in Libya there are many opportunities for Bulgarian business that need to be actively developed,” Simeonov said.

H.E. Aboubaker Saleh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Libya, also took part in the forum and invited Bulgarian companies to resume their activities on the Libyan market, which, as he stressed, is currently experiencing rapid growth. “We will do everything possible to facilitate the process of restoring cooperation,” he added.

Mr. Anwar Abu Sita, Board Member and President of the Tripoli Chamber of Commerce, presented priority sectors such as drug manufacturing, chemical industry, food industry and agricultural products. He declared his readiness to organize a forum in Tripoli in the near future, where Bulgarian and Libyan companies will meet again and discuss opportunities for the export of machinery, agricultural machinery, medicines and foodstuffs.

The forum created a basis for the resumption and expansion of bilateral trade by opening doors for Bulgarian companies in the Libyan private and public sectors, especially in the construction, manufacturing and agriculture sectors.
